RE PLANNED CLOSUSING OF WHITCHURCH POST OFFICE
Many residents of Llandaff North have expressed their worry at the planned closure of the present site of Whitchurch Post Office and it moving close to Whitchurch Library.
As your Councillors for Llandaff North, Dilwar Ali and Siobhan Corria have shared this concern and have campaigned with Julie Morgan AM and Mari Williams, the parliamentary candidate for Cardiff North to ask the Post Office to think again. We are pleased to inform you that on 05/08/2014 the Post Office announced that it had listened to the concerns of the public and decided not to go ahead with this plan.
It has been accepted that the proposed move meant that the Post Office moved too far away from the centre of the village and would add severely to the traffic problems in the area by the library.
We see this as a victory for common sense and the campaign that we ran and many people supported, firstly we would wish to thank you for your support and them say well done to the Post Office for listening to the view of the people.
The Post Office are going to try again to find a more suitable result, and any plans that they come up with will go out to a six week consultation period to the public. You can be assured that your local Councillors, Julie and Mari will be watching and taking a full part in this process.
We would like to make it clear that we feel that both the incumbent post master and those who wished to take over were fully entitled to act as they have and no one should blame either of them for what has happened, but the Post Office now accept that they have to find a more practical and popular solution to this issue than the one they were initial proposing.
We will keep watching this issue for you.
