Llandaff North Councillors Community Award
Janet Jones is the latest winner of the Llandaff North councillors community award.
The award, given by Cllrs Sue White and Dilwar Ali, recognises the work of individuals who are making a real difference to the community of Llandaff North.
Janet was nominated by Eddie Thomas.
He said Janet was always ready to help in a quiet, unassuming way. “She has been an active member of All Saints’ Church for many years and she does everything from cleaning to organising and taking part in church services.”
Many local people recognise Janet from seeing her cutting the hedges of the Church grounds, and from the help she has given to individuals and groups.
“For the past 14 years, Janet has been helping the homeless of Cardiff, ” said Eddie. “She has been organising Llandaff North’s contribution to the Rainbow of Hope which provides food, clothing and support to the homeless.”
Janet has also been helping with collections of food for Cardiff Foodbank. “Janet is a real unsung hero, always ready to help anybody who needs it. She does it quietly and unobtrusively, not for any personal recognition or glory,” said her local councillors.
“She makes a real difference in Llandaff North and we are delighted to present her with our community champion award.”
