Your Councillors Dilwar Ali, Jennifer Burke-Daive,  Anna McMorrin MP and Julie Morgan AM for Cardiff North.



Councillor Dilwar Ali was elected to represent the Llandaff North ward of Cardiff Council on May, 2012, re-elected May, 2017 and also served as the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cardiff 2015/2016.

He works as a Councillor and Assistant Cabinet Member for Citizens Engagement. He has a real insight into the wide range of needs within the community by engaging and listening.

Cllr Ali is member of GMB Union, an Associate Member of the Royal Society for Public Health, Member of Cardiff City Supporters Trust, Member of the Advisory Board, Uprising Cymru and is involved with many organisations as well as fundraising for many charities. Cllr Ali is one the founders of the Nationwide Association for Integrated Development (NAID), a charity which was established in 2001, and the serving director of NAID.

Cllr Ali has previously served on Cardiff Council’s Economy and Culture Committee, Democratic Services Committee, Airport Consultative Committee and South Wales Fire & Rescue Services. He is now serving on South Wales Fire & Rescue Services, Pension Committee and Governor Panel of Cardiff City Council, Governor at Gabalfa and Hawthorne Primary Schools and, in his spare time enjoys spending time with family, friends and pursuing voluntary work.  Along with being a keen cricket and football fan.

Cllr Ali have vigorously campaigned for reform of the law relating to dangerous dogs and animal welfare generally and currently promoting votes for 16 and 17 year olds consultation on Electoral Reform Welsh Government.



Councillor Jennifer Burke Davies, was elected to represent the Llandaff North ward of Cardiff Council on May, 2017 and lived in Llandaff North for 7 years with her husband Ceri, and their dog Pretzel.

Cllr Burke-Davies joined the Labour Party because she wanted to fight for social justice, equality and make a difference to people.

Cllr Burke-Davies worked in past Welfare to Work for 10 years delivering contracts such as WorkStep, Work Choice, Pathways, Work Programme, Jobs Growth Wales and Traineeships. Cllr Burke-Davies really enjoyed working with individuals to overcome barriers to employment and supporting them to achieve their goals.

Cllr Burke-Davies is a passionate Welsh Language Learner and she really enjoys practising with her friends, family and Constituents!

Cllr Burke-Davies in her spare time, with her husband likes to go walking in the Brecon Beacons and the Taff Trail with the dog. Both enjoy binge-watching various TV shows such as Mad Men, House of Cards and Parks and Recreation.

Cllr Burke-Davies is a member of the GMB Union.



Julie Morgan AM





Julie Morgan was elected as the Assembly Member  for Cardiff North on May 5th 2011 with a majority of 1,782. After a   great team effort, she won the seat with 16,384 votes – more votes than for any other candidate in Wales. Julie is now serving on three Welsh Assembly committees — Children and Young people, Finance and Public Accounts.

Julie is also  Chair of several cross party groups in the Assembly, including those concerned with cancer, haemophilia and contaminated blood, children, gypsies and travellers, and the PCS. Prior to serving in the Welsh Assembly, Julie was an MP. She was elected as Labour Member of Parliament for Cardiff North on 1st May 1997 and served until May 2010 when she lost by only 194 votes.

At the times of her election in 1997, she was the first woman MP to represent a part of Cardiff. Julie was also, at the time, one of the only four Welsh Labour MPs who were women. Julie originally contested the seat in 1992 and after winning it in 1997, she was returned at the General elections in both 2001 and 2005.

Anna Mcmorrin

Anna McMorrin, your Labour Member of Parliament for Cardiff North. Anna grew up in a small village just outside of Brecon and have lived in Cardiff for the last 17 years where Anna now live with her partner, two daughters and one cat!


Anna first joined the Labour Party when she was a student, and have been a campaigner and activist for over 20 years knocking doors, delivering leaflets, and supporting community campaigns, always driven by the values of social justice, equality and fairness that she learnt as a child.

As the specialist adviser to the Welsh Government for over six years until 2014, Anna worked at the heart of the Government to help shape and deliver anti-poverty programs, create legislation to protect workers and our future generations as well as bringing in new energy and sustainable development policies.

Before becoming your MP, Anna ran a small business bringing renewable energy investment and other businesses into Wales. Anna also worked on international climate change issues with fifty regional governments worldwide to take action in the run up to the UN Paris Climate agreement.

Parliamentary Roles and Responsibilities

Anna currently the Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Barry Gardiner MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade and Anna a member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee.


Anna is member of the Unison and GMB unions, LGBT Labour, Labour Women’s Network and the Cooperative Party.

Anna a keen Welsh language learner and enjoy any opportunity to practice including with her children who are fluent! Anna also enjoy live music, good food, and going to the beach to spend time with her family whenever Anna can find the time. Anna also speak French and Spanish so love practising that where possible too!
